Day Care Actvities
New Directions day care facility....
Opened in April 2007 to support adults with learning disabilities to gain confidence and enable them to develop independence. It helps to cultivate lost skills and encourages new skills, as well as raise the individual's confidence and self-esteem The activities are led by the users, with staff offering their suggestions and ideas, in a bid to broaden the person's horizons.
The activities include arts and crafts, music, cookery, life stories, computing, gardening and enterprise.
We also offer activities that take place in the wider community with visits to museums, country parks and zoos, to name but a few recent examples.
It is hoped as we develop and grow sessions will be arranged with professionals to include safety in the home, crime prevention, fire safety, first aid and much more including a proposed small sensory room.
This facility is currently only available to our own established clients due to restricted space but with future developments we hope to offer it on a wider basis. The service is available Monday to Friday from 10.00 am until 2.30 pm, each week of the year.
